The Birmingham Crisis center is a facility providing all aspects of clinical psychotherapeutic evaluation, treatment and referral services. The center's primary focus and expertise is in crisis intervention and urgent care. All patients wishing appointments will be seen within 72 hours.
The Clinic provides both short term and long term individual and family psychotherapy. Treatment plans are initiated following primary evaluation and are designed to address the specific needs of the individual or family.
Situated in the heart of Downtown Birmingham, the Birmingham Crisis Center was envisioned and developed by John J. Messana, B.C.D. to answer the needs of individuals facing a crisis situation.
The goal of the clinic is to be available to all clients in need of immediate crisis intervention and to be available by telephone for a 15 minute appraisal of the immediate needs and concerns of the individual.
Pursuant to the phone interview, if necessary, the client may be referred to the appropriate physicians, hospital, or other mental health or drug rehabilitation facility, or will be scheduled to come in to the clinic for an evaluation which should take one and a half hours after which a diagnosis and treatment plan will be outlined.
The clinic has been of service to the legal and judicial system in
the review of case files and presentation of analysis and opinions rendered
in many major civil suits, custody, juvenile and Family Court matters.
BCC has been called on for critical incident debriefing in many mass crisis
situations affecting public welfare and has been on call to many large
corporations affected by emergency crisis situations.
